Dear Saint Anthony,
I greet you gladly
and offer you the respect and homage of a sinner…
one who is aware how much God’s grace
and your help are needed.
Everyone knows of your power as a thaumaturge or wonder-worker.
You are called the saint of miracles.
You multiplied your favors
not only during your life
but over 775 years since you left this earth.
I have heard you had a very amiable disposition.
So I have faith in your help before God.
My disposition is terrible.
I am a bear before breakfast.
At other times I am often sour and sarcastic,
mean and critical.
So I embitter those around me,
even those who love me most.
Please aid me to improve my outlook and disposition.
Help me to greet others with a smile and a cheering word.
If I must cry, let my tears be all inside.
Because you were kind and loving,
always ready to assist those in need,
I know you will help me now
for the sake of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
